Weissenborn Guitar

This is a Weissenborn, hollow neck, acoustic, Hawaiian, six string, lap steel guitar. It’s named after Hermann Weissenborn, the man most credited with bringing it to the mass mainland audience. This one is a traced, measured copy of a 1920’s model 2 done in highly figured, curly Koa. These pieces are the most beautifully complex figure of any species I’ve ever handled. The headstock and all internal bracing is 60 year old, reclaimed Philippine Mahogany. It’s semi traditional with rope style purfling and rosette, Abalone inlay and Purpleheart binding, gold Grover art deco tuners look great and help with center of balance. The Purpleheart is courtesy of Mr. Steve Winer. Check out his link and some of his incredible uses of this amazing wood. This custom instrument has K&K Sound, Twinspot, transducer pickups installed and is owned and played by Mr. Chris Kennison.

This instrument has found a loving home.
